
Recycle plastic bags at local grocery/retail stores.


NOT ACCEPTED: Leave these items out of drop-off recycling containers: Plastic bags, plastic bagged recyclables, any Styrofoam (carryout or packing materials), food contaminated such as pizza boxes, no sheets or balls of aluminum foil, no shredded paper, no batteries of any kind, no tanglers, hoses, cords, big items such as wood, plastic, furniture or metal. No shredded paper.ĪCCEPTED ITEMS: Cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum and steel cans, kitchen, laundry and bath plastic bottles, tubs and containers (Empty, rinse and replace plastic cap to recycle), food and beverage cartons (empty, rinse, replace plastic cap to recycle) and glass bottles and jars (no metal lids, please). No plastic bags or plastic bagged recyclables. The instructional decals on the containers explain items that are accepted and items we do not accept in CVWMA roll off containers and FEL containers. Recycling Tip: Pizza boxes can be recycled. Starting July 1, 2019, all of the front end loaders (FELs) and roll-off containers are now single stream which means you can now place all of the same accepted materials together in the same container like residents do that participate in our residential (curbside) recycling program. Not Acceptable: Styrofoam waxed cardboard packing material plastic of any kind wet or soiled cardboard.

Collection containers are located at thirty-six convenient locations in nine participating counties and cities. CVWMA offers convenient drop-off recycling collection sites to residents of central Virginia.
